Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

These guys are a true class act. They memorize your order and are helpful and friendly through the entire sandwich process!

I had my boyfriend run here to pick up some food for us while we were running late to an event. Their website looks superrrrrrr yummy. So we order the #9 and the Pick 2- #17 + salad. The #9 was just ok. The #17 looked a mess. It had nothing really on it except a lot of dressing and lettuce. The salad had like one slice of tomato. I was really disappointed. I won't be coming back to this restaurant. False advertising!

All in all, exceeded my expectations and what is normally a three star kinda place gets bumped up to four for really hitting the spot. I did a sandwich and salad combo and while not mind blowing, they were each pretty good! The sandwich put me in mind of Planet Sub, and the salad was more than enough. They also let you choose between romaine and spinach which is nice. My favorite part was the side of pickled Italian veggies - just a tad spicy and with loads of flavor. I dumped the whole side onto my sandwich in one big mess. The menu here is a bit much, and seems to be guilty of the 'jack of all trades' syndrome with pizza and loads of options. Some people might like that but to me it's kind of a red flag. Not a place I'd go all the time but would definitely go back!

This is a sandwich shop right next to UMKC, and apparently is a chain. I decided to try it one day between classes, and ordered an Italian sub. There was one person in front of me, but my order was made quickly. I got a free drink for checking in. The Italian is automatically toasted. I usually do not like hot Italians, but I just let them do it. I think the man working said he was the manager, and he was very nice. I got my sandwich to go, and walked over to eat it on campus. I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty good. The bread was not as bad as expected - I think the toasting helped the texture. It was slightly firm and a little chewy. Not the best bread I've had, but better than expected. I will visit here again!

Solid place to eat. Folks on a budget will appreciate how much can be purchased with around $30. Didn't blow me away, but I didn't hate it, which tells me that some folks will probably love this place while virtually next to no one will despise it. Could do far worse than Pickleman's.

I've been here a a couple times this month right before or during the lunch hour rush for some casual business meetings. Good place to meet out front especially since there are little round tables (with shade) and chairs available. I was new to Pickleman's and wasn't sure how ordering worked but the layout makes it easy. The food quality, service, and cleanliness of this location made me eager to return several times on my own for lunch. Right when you walk in, there is a huge menu on the wall for you to look at. To the left is where the line starts. You order your entrée here (sandwich, soup, pizza etc). They have white or wheat options for the bread! I've consistently ordered the #5 Turkey Bacon sandwich on wheat. They then prep that main order and put it through the rolling toasting machine. Here, I also ordered the Baja Chicken soup and they pour that into the container size you choose. It comes with a white dinner roll (***it would be very cool if they also provided wheat as well***). You continue down the line and wait for the sandwich (or pizza if you order it) to come out. There, another worker asks you what toppings/extra ingredients you want (they have a sign above listing what extra ingredients are available and which ones cost extra). The cash register is next! On my latest visit, they told me about their Loyalty Program where you can use an app to keep track of your visits, purchases, and rewards accumulated here. I haven't tried this out yet (if anyone else has this and is willing to let me know how it goes, feel free to message me). After paying, there is a drink machine with free water cups available next to it. The drink machine is touch screen and provides many options to choose from at the single touch of a button. I was impressed at the selection of Fanta flavors available (and I made it a goal to try each one out eventually!) There are several booths, tables, high tables, and single chairs (far back wall) available inside to sit at (along with a few outdoor seating). If you come here for lunch, try to beat the rush hour crowd because seating can be limited if the crowd is big (and they get pretty noisy as well). Overall, my cumulative experiences have been excellent at this Pickleman's: food has been delicious (especially that Baja Chicken soup!), service is friendly and fast, and the establishment is clean. I definitely plan to have lunch here more often.

I just got their basic turkey sandwich and it was not good at all. I'm not sure how they managed to screw that up... But I will not be going back. The staff was very nice and the environment was decent but I couldn't even finish my sandwich and I was starving. Sorry!

Staff is always friendly and the line moves quickly. I work next door and really enjoy being able to get great food so quickly.

I ordered lunch to be delivered for several people in my office. Was told that it would take about 45 minutes. After an hour went by I called the shop, they said they were behind and that we should have our food in another half an hour. It finally came and the food was not hot, it was barely warm. The pizza tasted good but the sandwiches were bad. Both were soggy and were mostly bread, barely any meat on them at all. (not at all like their photographs on the website). Nobody was happy with their orders. Maybe it's better if you order it in the store. I won't be ordering from them again.

I want to like this place more but the past few experiences prevent me from this unfortunately. First off the location is really nice right next to UMKC campus, very convenient. The menu is varied but honestly they'd probably be better off just sticking to subs. I ordered the pick 2 and got half sub half salad. The sub itself wasn't terrible. But the salad was clearly not prepared not very well, the salad leaves tasted stale and dirty. The bacon pieces all stuck in one big ball and were cold. Not prepared very well. Also if you plan on using the free drink with yelp check in don't think of it. I tried showing the server but he completely disregarded it. They do have the amazing futuristic coke machines which may have been my highlight sadly, didn't even get a drink either. Just seeing it...... All in all a fairly basic place for Umkc students to get lunch in a pinch. Probably won't be back again though.

It took me forever to try this place because of the low rating; however, I'm glad I finally checked it out for myself. The vegetarian sub is awesome, and all of the ingredients are very fresh. The staff is always really nice too. This place has yet to let me down and is well deserving of five stars.

Loveeee Picklemans but don't order delivery from this place.... I literally live down the street and it has taken over an hour now for a pizza.

I've had Pickleman's a couple of times, I have a friend that went to MU (I don't hold it against her) and apparently Pickleman's is a Columbia favorite. I went to KState (GO CATS!) so I'm more of a Planet Sub person. Either way, if you're ever in the mood for a toasted sandwich Pickleman's will do. I find the menu to be a little small and very similar, luckily you can add peppers to anything to spice it up. Their signature peppers are good, I was expecting something really spectacular since they are an additional charge to add them to your sammie, but they're not spectacular. The soups are actually quite tsaty and rich. I've had the cheddar broccoli and it was so creamy and thick, delish and not the slightest bit healthy. :-) Their pickles though are especially good, which I was hoping they would be since the name of the place is PICKLEman's!! The service was friendly and they were quick with the food prep. I just find that they're a little over-priced for what they're selling.

First visit there today and was greeted with a friendly welcome when I approached the counter. After looking over the menu I decided on the Hodge Podge, which consisted of: salami, capicola, turkey, ham, provolone cheese, mayo, lettuce and tomato. I found the inside of the business cold in temperature. The sandwich was toasted just right and was very good. A co-worker who dined with me tried the cheese pizza and gave me a sample. It was very god as well. The interior was nice and roomy and you did not feel over crowded inside. The interior was clean in appearance and all the employees were keeping busy. I will definitely be back for lunch.

I got the veggie toasted sandwich and it was awesome! Wish it was bigger, though. I had friends who got different sandwiches and soups and really liked it. Great location!

Warning, this review maybe a little bias... I have been a fan of Pickleman's since they were installed in Columbia, MO during my undergrad days at Mizzou. They are undoubted my favorite subshop chain that I have had so far, plus me and my husband can actually agree on this one whereas one of us always finds something to dislike about the others we have tried. I was actually frustrated when I moved up to KC and found nothing that my tummy considered similar enough to appease it. Then the news came, Pickleman's was coming to the KC area... only problem was that the first one was going to be over a 30 minutes drive from where I live/work and a place I rarely go. But then they said they were looking into putting one somewhere near the plaza... score! Since then, it has been months of impatiently waiting for the opening... and here they are... and I am in the delivery area! (The closest Jimmy Johns which is closer to me refuses to deliver to me... so there Jimmy Johns!) Placed my first order today... got one of my favorites: The Buffalo Chicken Toasted Sandwich with Giardiniera Peppers...yum :) Oh and I don't foresee it ever being much of an issue to get to the $5 min order for delivery... always chips and cookies to add to a one of the cheaper sandwiches or soups.
